NY Times: “Peter Rabbit Must Die”
We are not amused.
The most e-mailed article from yesterday’s New York Times was “Peter Rabbit Must Die,” an article about killing the animals that damage your garden.
I prefer this philosophy, also cited in the article:
“There is also the approach offered by Catherine Wachs, a gardener who runs the Right Brain Design advertising company and lives in Larchmont, N.Y.: ‘I do what the Bible says: Leave the corners of your field unharvested for the poor and strangers among you.’ “
I put up a fence. Last year ground hogs didn’t stick to the corners. Instead they ate the entire bean patch down to the stalk.

I did not see this article…..I guess I will have to look at it, at some point, but the thought sickens me. However I should quickly add that I am an avid gardener and the animals in our yard take very little of what we grow - they are welcome to take what they have taken, however. There are only two of us and much of what we share goes to our neighbors (so that would include the four legged as well as two legged among us)

The only thing that works (besides murder-which is only temporary anyway- critters gotta eat!)is an electric fence- or a high walled garden, with a footing 3 feet under the ground
