I saw this article and was fascinated, as we’ve never seen black squirrels or even heard of them up in Scotland. We have seen a white squirrel though and there’s supposed to be a colony of them near Edinburgh. How do the whites compare to the grey’s for competitiveness etc?

This is the first time I’ve heard that squirrels of different color vary in any way other than color. I always thought being a different color made it harder for them to survive because they lack camouflage.
