Poem: Nightmare at the waistband
My waistband won’t close.
Flesh oozes out between
the zipper teeth,
telling the story of
midnight binges on
chocolate-dipped biscotti
and pale green bananas.
Where do I go from here?
Buy bigger pants?
Curb my eating?
Or close my eyes and
hope I’ll wake up from
this nightmare.
